It took me a while to figure out what Babychair was saying, whilst pointing at the mantlepiece.

She was insisted that she needed to speak to her Aunty. So I rang my sister on her landline no answer and then got though to her on her mobile and handed the phone to Babychair. Her face was a picture, she seriously spoke and babbled happily to her beloved aunty on the phone.

Babychair loves my sister and always remembers her, despite not seeing her frequently in real life.

I am pretty sure I am NBU...she is 2 years old and dressed in wellies, heavy jeans and a mack.

DD begged to play outside despite the heavy rain, so I let her out. I'm snuggled up on the sofa nursing DS, on the laptop, whilst watching her play in the garden.

I did try and get her inside 5 minutes ago when the weather got worse but she shouted 'No' and ran off with her ball to the bottom of the garden. She is crazy to want to be outside today.

Just reassure me that my neighbours are not going to ring the social

Babychair's vocab has just dramatically increased practically overnight.

She has several stock phrase which are used a lot, including....

'There you go'
'I dropped it'
'It is me'
'What's that'

Plus loads of one off words including but by no means limited to.....

Plane, Pipin (Dog off Go Outside), Toilet (with sign), Upstairs, Hurt, Sleep (with sign). read, book, out, door, hot,

baby, cot, mine, my baby, raining, shoes, socks, tractor, plane, car.

Simpsons, Cbeebies, Tee Aaa (which means TV and she won't accept a correction of her version)

Sorry, Please and Thankyou all with signs. Sorry is sung in response to pushing or biting another child, sadly

Dog and Cat have surfaced rather than woof, meow etc.

It is just amazing. She seems to be adding words on a daily basis. To think I was worrying about her not being very verbal a few short weeks ago.

Walking Downstairs !!!

Babychair has taken to insisting on walking upright down stairs rather than her usual bumping on her bottom method.

Worry, worry....Isn't she too small at 23 months to be walking downstairs.

She is growing up so fast.

Yogurt, Yogurt Everywhere

I left Babychair for 2 minutes on her own in the living room whilst I cleaned the kitchen and in that time she managed to smear yogurt over both french windows in the living room.

I brought her a wet and dry cloth to clean up her mess and she was so delighted to be helping mummy (I had to smile). Sadly she was just making things far worse than they started, so when I thanked her for cleaning up and tried to encourage her to another activity so I could finish the cleaning properly, we had a major tandrum....sigh

Climbing on table

I fell asleep on the sofa, for no more than a couple of minutes and woke up to....

...Babychair sitting ON the edge of the dining room table, feet on her small wooden table with an apple, which must of been taken from the far side of the table from the fruit bowl, shouting 'Mummy'

So in the two minutes I took my eyes off her, she climbed onto her little chair, onto the small table, onto the big table, crossed the big table and back to reach the fruit bowl !!!

I may never sleep again.

Babychair can not only put the right shoe on the right foot (bit hit and miss about this bit) but she can thread the cross strap under the first part of the buckle !!!

I am amazed at the amount and variety in Babychair's vocab.

Recently she will parrot nearly any new word spoken or read out loud to her.

She has always understood most of what we talk to her about, but to date I had suspected a lot of the understanding was linked to context, our tone of voice and understanding the odd word.

Now she really responds aptly and promptly, even if the conversation wasn't aimed at her, to our great amusement.

She really is turning into a little chatterbox No wondering where she got that from.

Two Pink Shoes

She did it !!!

Finally after weeks of throwing shoes to the floor in temper and getting the wrong shoe on the wrong foot (and if you tell her she carefully swaps shoes and feet so puts on the other shoe on the wrong foot..LOL)

She managed to get both shoes on the right feet and she is so proud of herself

So is her mummy, what a clever girl

Nursing Her Baby Doll

We went to visit the in-laws today.

My beautiful Babychair stood in the middle of the living room, lifted up her velvet dress and pushed her baby doll under it to lie on her chest. What is she doing asked my MIL...nursing her baby I answered.

I am secretly quite proud of the fact that she had no idea what to do with the fake bottle the baby doll came with (she threw it on the floor and ignored it), yet she did know how she could feed her own baby. Just melted my heart

Sniff, sniff

I taught Babychair now to smell something using a small bottle of Olbas oil and over eager sniffing.

Now anything she is given to eat, is slowly,delibrately and noisly sniffed several times before eating...it is so funny to watch

Babychair sat next to me on the sofa watching Cbeebies and unexpectedly fed me her last snack and her last handful of raisions.

Aww, first sharing without prompting:) I often share my food with her and I suppose she is copying me, but to get raisions !!!

Pretend Play

My heart just melted

My 17 month old DD, Babychair was wandering around with a clean empty plant pot and a spoon. She came up to me and told me something very intent and seriously...not that I understood a word and tried to feed me pretend food from the plant pot.

When I played along and pretend to have a fuller and fuller mouth and swallowed it all, she couldn't stop laughing. She was delighted that I understood what she meant.

She then went around the room talking to and feeding all the toys, mainly the donkey 'Mary Gold' laughing madly
