Babychair has really taken off physically recently
She started to independently walk at 10 months old, now at 13 months...she is much steadier on her feet, she doesn't walk everywhere...she runs !!
Turn your back for a moment and she can climb a flight of stairs in half a minute (should add here before SS turn up at my door, that at home she has a stair gate to stop her practicing on her own)
When we are at the park, she heads for the ladders and tries to pull herself up them...she has little interest in the slide at the top of the platform it is the climbing of the stairs which is the attraction. She can get up maybe the first two steps but woe betide the person who lifts her to the platform...a rare tantrum will quickly erupt. She
wants to be at the top but my darling daughter wants to get there
on her own. ~stamps foot and arches back with red cross face~
She loves cupboards and drawers and will joyfully open and empty them when ever she comes across one and if you are lucky fill them up again (usually with different objects according to her toddler logic)
The bathroom is particularly fun. Especially turning the main light on and off, which is possible as the long string is just at tippy toe height for Babychair. She still hasn't got a good understanding of cause and effect and therefore she runs to the light switch, turns off the light, starts to panic as it is now dark and hurries back to me, now sat on the toilet in the dark. Sigh, I can even sort out my mooncup in the dark now, whilst comforting a toddler sat on my knee who doesn't like the dark. Yet the following night...what does she do !?! Of course she heads straight for the light switch, the lure of pulling that string is too much for her to resist.
Babychair is also trying to climb onto my lap when I'm sat on the sofa downstairs, she still needs a little help but she is nearly able to do it and I am glad to see that she still goes down things feet first on her tummy just like we taught her to. To the degree that a small two inch dip in the garden is treated the same way as the drop off the side of our bed...bless her.
Her bathroom routine is amazing (not that she does the following every time but she can if she chooses to) She can climb the stairs and walk to the toilet and I lift her on to the seat and sort out her pants. She does a wee and if I give her the toilet paper she will wipe herself and push the paper into the toilet. (She can reach the toilet roll but will unravel the entire roll giggling madly if I let her and why not, it looks fun). Lastly she will lean back on the toilet seat and flush the toilet and sign
'all done' so I can lift her off the seat.
I didn't realise how all together this routine had got, as it has been added to slowly over time. At the weekend my DH came downstairs with Babychair in his arms...delighted at her flushing the toilet.
Babychair loves playing with her daddy...'What's That' she squeals in excitement as he swings her around the air and gives her raspberries kisses on her belly...before she collapses to the floor in giggles. If daddy is too slow in chasing her, she turns around and runs into his arms laughing. I wish I could bottle her sweet loving laugh.
Babychair and I have our own games....copying each other expressions in the bathroom mirror, playing peek a boo with the living room curtains, splashing around with water in the backgarden or bathroom, rolling around on our big bed just reading stories, cuddling or being silly. I read stories to her, she tries to eat the books. I try to sing for her, she laughs at me (I don't blame her my voice is terrible), I try to do the housework, she 'helps'. Life with Babychair is fun. LOL
She has grown from a loving baby into a happy little girl, apart from one cold she had last week she has been (touch wood) healthy may it long continue. Deckchair and I are very lucky parents to be blessed with such a loving daughter.
