I haven't tried using our home doppler for ages, since I can feel Bert kicking and moving, there seems little point but this evening I was worried as I hadn't felt much movement today.

I was pretty sure that was because I had been walking around York for most of the day and Bert seems to sleep more when I'm active and I once I lie down for a nap he/she would wake me up with kicks...but I was still worried.

So we got the doppler out and for the first time we managed to get a clear and very strong heartbeat (last time we tried I was only a few weeks pregnant and we were never sure if we got the baby's heartbeat or not) and Deckchair went to proudly announce to his on line gaming pals how wonderful it was to hear his baby's heartbeat !!!

I'm lucky that I get to hear Bert's heartbeat at every midwives appointment so I knew we had got the baby not me but Deckchair's face was such a picture

Typically the moment I stopped worrying Bert gave me half a dozen strong kicks before moving into another position...stubborn child.

My husband and I decided to have a waddle over to York for the day and as we had a two for one voucher we ended up at the York Dungeons.

They did have a warning up at the start of the attraction saying the dungeon was not suitable for nervous children but I didn't think to count myself in this category.

It was both very fun and very scary at the same time, I won't write too much in case I spoil it for others. But I jumped a lot and the actors were very good. I was so pleased to get out at the other end !!!

Then we had a quick look around the Jorvik Viking Centre. It was interesting and worth a visit but more a tourist attraction than a real museum.

The time capsule ride was a welcome break off my feet and a fun and smelly ride and I love learning about the mass roman grave of beheaded disgraced soldiers exhibit.

All in all a lovely day out
