We had our 21 week u/s today.



On the bright side we have a new picture of 'Bert' which I will post when I have scanned it in but the hospital want us to come back to have another u/s to have another look at his/her heart chambers and cord.

They don't think anything is wrong yet, but they couldn't see enough to see if everything is alright either.

They spent ages poking and prodding me, I'm actually quite sore in my belly, then after 30 minutes the baby just turned over and wouldn't move at all and so the tech said we would have to come back on another date, I don't blame my baby for getting fed up, I feel the same way.

Part of me is very pleased that 99% of the news was good. The baby measured spot on for dates and everything else bar heart and cord is absolutely fine and the heartbeat is still strong at 140 BPM. So we are very lucky to have a much better u/s than many people. Plus another u/s, does mean another picture of 'Bert' in 2.5 weeks time, which is not to be sniffed at.

However a very small part of me is worried what if something is wrong. I would give anything just to have the peace of mind that everything is fine now.

I don't want to wait 2.5 weeks until the next u/s, though part of me thinks that if it was more serious, wouldn't they call me back sooner ? The tech said the baby will be bigger at the next u/s hence easier to scan...fingers crossed.

I know I should be grateful that I didn't get 100% bad news and the tech did say for us not to worry, but I still will be counting the days until our next scan

So please think of us on the 21st April, when we go back for our third u/s. Lets hope they see the cord and heart chambers properly and that everything is alright, I have never wanted anything so badly in my life.
