Looks like I'll have two companions on maternity leave

Typically I'm tossing and turning all night and I know I had to be up early to see the midwife this morning band what time do we get up..8am !!!

The good news is that all my original blood tests are all clear and the midwife got a strong heartbeat of 145 beats per minute

The midwife took more blood and no news is good news on this one, if we don't hear anything we are low risk but if we do we are high risk...fingers crossed that we hear nothing

EDIT. No news on the tests by Friday ...looking good

Miracles do happen

My parents came down to visit today and whilst Deckchair and dad worked on the cabling in the back room, mum and I went baby shopping. Mum brought us two beautiful baby grows, one white with Roo and one in lemon and orange stripes with Roo...very cute and awaiting Bert in August.

First stop was the near side of meadowhall, where I showed mum the pram that Deckchair liked at Mothercare but she agreed with me that the material would get to dirty too quickly.

Then I showed mum the Graco Mirage pram I liked at Babies R Us at the retail park around the corner but the shop model they built for us a couple of weeks ago is broken and will no longer fold !!! Which is making me concerned about buying a Graco pram.

We looked at a couple other Graco models in the store but they had strange one hand twist
folding mechanisms which I didn't like.

So we went back to meadowhall the far end this time, to go to the big and expensive Mama and Papas shop. They had two very nice buggies at very nice prices !!! The lighter of the two prams was very complex to fold, needing two hands and a foot which I though was a bit much. But the pram was very light and very easy to open.

The other pram I really love it is a nice dark charcoal colour and folded up easily and quickly and even stands up when folded !!! Easy to unfold and to adjust the seat angle etc.
The car seat clicks in with extra links which are pulled up from the base which at first I thought what a pain but then I realised that the car seat is much more secure than the Graco seats.

The sales lady showed us how the seat would fit with the base in our car. Now I liked the base but was surprised that the seat beat is still threaded though the back on the seat. Also I liked the handle folds forward to brace against the main car seat, to protect the child from side impacts. They only thing I didn't like was the car seat handle was hard to move up and down whilst pressing the small silver buttons, the sales lady said it was only stiff as it was a new seat which I am unsure about.

I think I need more details on how the Graco seat bases work, I am wondering if they would be secure enough.

This evening I looked up Graco on the Mumsnet website and members feedback had four mums who had Graco prams which 'fell to pieces' and one mum who said her Graco is fine five years on but her first Graco also broke !!!

When I looked up Mama's & Papa's on Mumsnet and everyone liked them but felt they were pricey...which they are.

So what do we do now !!! I am very tempted by the Mama & Papa's one, just because I like it

We went to see my sister and her boyfriend in Leeds.

We ate loads of nice Mexian food, laughing overselves silly with a DVD music video game and enoyed chating and watching DVD's, plus we had a lovely cooked breakfast this morning

And I got a drive in my sister's new mini, it is very nice car.

We had a great time and hope to visit sister and her boyfriend again very soon.

I might be mistaken but I think I felt the baby move.

I am nearly 15 weeks and I felt a light fluttering or vibration below my belly button.

I wonder if that was the baby !!! I suppose I'll just have to wait and see if these feelings get stronger and turn into kicks - I can't wait !!!

Famous last words, I bet by August I'll be begging the baby not to kick my ribs

Our first married valentines day.

As I only stay up until 9:30pm at the moment, we went for a quiet meal at Mr Tse's.

Sadly they only had a set menu on, so we couldn't have the yummy dishes we wanted.

But my husband has promised to take me back again very soon.

Deckchair managed to find Bert's heartbeat several times with the doppler, which is the first time we have heard his/her heartbeat

The baby kept moving so the heartbeat would be strong for a while and move away, we have one active baby

...I wish !!!

Pre pregnancy I loved most food and if I was hungry, I could eat what ever food was on offer.

Now I have to both be hungry and find that particular item of food appealing before I can eat and it is getting more difficult over the last couple of weeks.

Yesterday in the staff canteen I spend five minutes looking at the unappealing options on the canteen menu, until I finally begged them to cook me a piece of cheese on toast.

On the bright side I am losing a little weight and this is not a bad thing, as I am overweight to start off with.

But finding appealing things to eat is a nightmare, the only things I like at the moment are milk, orange juice, lemon/orange sorbet, breakfast cereal with milk and white toast...hardly a balanced diet !!!

Going off my offical estimated delivery date of the 12th August 06, I am exactly 14 weeks pregnant today !!!!

Only 26 weeks to go until we see Bert in real life

She loves her cars. So say goodbye to the Peugot and hello to the Mini !!!

Whilst napping on the sofa this evening, I was half watching Australian Princess a tacky reality show on Tivo.

The show had moved to England and to match the new locations, the background music changed to Mozart. They played both my wedding pieces back to back !!!

The music pulled me back to our wedding day, especially the moment I turned the corner and saw Deckchair stood waiting for me.

It is amazing how a piece of music can provoke such a powerful and happy memory

TigerFeet and her daughter Little'un of the TigerFeet Blog origin, minus Yorkshireman (TigerFeet's husband) who is currently slaving over an intensive work course, came to visit us last night.

TigerFeet came bearing a wonderful box of gifts for Bert, including but not limited to a beautiful furry teddy bear, the best nappy rash cream ever (TigerFeet's words not mine), Lavender bath oil (which I had seen advertised on the television and wanted to buy) and loads of beautiful 0 to 3 months white sleep suits and vests

Deckchair cooked a wonderful Spaghetti Bolognese for us and Little'un had some too, as being on holiday meant it was too exciting to go to sleep at someone else’s house

Deckchair had also rented a copy of Madagascar in case Little'un stayed up, as though she is too young at 18 months to follow a story plot, he figured cartoon lions must appeal to a youngster.

It was so entertaining to watch Little'un watch the video, to see the movie though a child’s eyes. She had sounds and actions for all the common animals like ducks, lions, monkeys and insisted that the Zebra was a duck !!

I was so tired I had to slope of to bed first, even Little'un stayed up later than me

I had this morning off work, so TigerFeet, Little'un and me went to Meadowhall for a girl's baby shopping trip.

We looked at some Travel Sets in Babies R Us and a very nice lady put together the latest just arrived Graco Mirage Travel Set together for us to look at. It was the best I have seen to date and I think this is the one we'll buy for Bert later in the year.

I was also very touched by the sales lady she was telling me about the twins she had birthed over 30 years ago, one sadly born still. I was so unsure what to say, I just looked at her and smiled sadly.

A few minutes later she comes back to where me and TigerFeet were standing and gives me Babies R Us discount card forms for me and then unexpectedly she hugged me and kissed me on my cheek and wished me all the best !

In this world of bad people, it is so nice to meet such a sweet kind lady.

After Toys R US, we visited Mothercare and had lunch at the Oasis.

It was great to spend some quality girl time with TigerFeet and she has promised to join me on future shopping trips when we actually start BUYING things for Bert.
