I like to know things, but I don't feel the need to pass information to others. I get enough pleasure from knowing that I know.
Hence I have enjoyed keeping the news of my pregnancy to our intermediate family for the last three months but now we have a beating heart on our ultrasound it is time to spread the news !!!!
Last night my DH rang our Best Man from our wedding Al to break the news to him very casually "Hi Al, I have completed a course, been promoted, and got my wife pregnant" Apparantly with men it is not essential to make these things face to face and emotional !!!
Unlike when I break the news, I need to see peoples faces which is why for both sets of parents and my sister we visited each in turn to tell them about our baby.
So today I took a couple of my work friends, Lisa and Rachel out to lunch, specially to break the news about Bert.
I couldn't think of a way to tell them, so when we all sat down, I told them I had something to show them and just pulled out our u/s picture and held it so they could both see it. They were both in shock for a moment but cottoned on very fast. Hugs and general baby advice all around. Very nice way to break the news.
Then it was back to the office to break the news to Liz (who was also invited to the lunch but had to man the phones...boo hiss) She said "Who's is the baby ?....Yours" Shortly followed by "You secretative bugger" when she found out I was three months gone.
There was two more people who had been invited for lunch, Lorraine and Linda who had both been ordered to a big town meeting. I caught up with Lorraine in Lisa and Liz's office later in the afternoon and after listening to the meeting news for ten minutes, I found a gap in the conversation to interrupt and show the ultrasound picture.
Not only was Lorraine speechless which if you know Lorraine you would recognise this as a true miracle. When she did regain the power of speech, her first words were "Why didn't you stop me talking and tell me sooner", LOL.. I am not that brave a woman.
Lastly I called by Linda's office and told her, she was delighted and said what blessing babies are, especially when they are wanted.
So I feel happy bouncy and very well hugged and loved today
